Get Ready to Reap

Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same. ~ Job 4:8

In this early part of the twenty-first century we have an ever increasing number of people who unashamedly hate God, others who are indifferent toward Him, many who are deceived in their false worship and doctrines, and still others who only pay Him lip service. For these and other reasons it seems clear that God is withdrawing His hand of protection from these United States of America.

For several decades now we have seen that our wars are no longer decisive wins as in the past, when God clearly gave us an advantage. Sensing this and knowing that our defensive and offensive forces are often spread thin has emboldened our enemies, many of whom want to see us fall from a position of leadership in the world. Relatively soon, whether next week, next month, next year or next decade, I believe the first calamity will come to us as a financial collapse, resulting in a severe depression, very possibly worldwide. We have grown too dependent on, and fond of our wealth, including the power it affords, both as a nation and as individuals. We are broke, overspent, in debt by trillions of dollars and our finances will be shown for what they are, an empty vault.

For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. ~ Exodus 34:14

Not only our finances are being affected, but look at our weather over the past twenty or thirty years, but especially the past ten years. It has been increasingly strange, severe, or extreme. Whether we are looking at floods, hurricanes, record occurrences of tornadoes, droughts, heat, and cold, you name it practically, and we have seen a change in intensity and patterns.

Lewdness and perversion are paraded in the streets, and increasingly glorified by laws around the country. Sexual sins are rampant, and pornography is widespread as a raging lust has taken hold of the people. With witchcraft, necromancy, spiritualism, blood, and gore, passing as entertainment on television, millions bring it into their homes feeding their ungodly appetites, thereby glorifying Satan. The laws of the land are increasingly despised and broken, reflecting hard angry hearts, and filling our prisons to overflowing. The murder of innocent life has been sanitized and called choice but it is still abortion and murder and hundreds are performed daily in an attempt for sinners to turn back the clock, hide their sin, or simply control one's own life with no regard for God's will for them.

Almost every conceivable kind of shrine and house of worship known to man, has sprung up in this country as people have turned from the living God to the gods made of stone, wood, and plaster. All are proclaimed to be of equal value, and worthy of the same respect as Jehovah God of the Bible. The Christian churches have forgotten their purpose, their first love, and most are little more than arenas of entertainment for the lukewarm, while the numbers of the ungodly swell. Most have turned their back on sound doctrine, holding on to fairy tales and the words of men instead of the words of God.

The Bible teaches us that adversity and suffering causes many people to examine their life and to seek God and repent of their sins. God loves us too much, and has blessed this country too much, to allow us to remain as we are, and to continue daily growing farther from Him. Therefore we can expect a time of chastising is soon coming upon us individually and collectively.

As a nation we are puffed up with our own accomplishments, not giving God the glory. We are un-thankful for the most part, vain, prideful, arrogant, boastful, and lacking in love as the hearts of many has grown cold. Never satisfied and growing increasingly greedy, while money and Government have become the arm people lean on instead of God, while the numbers of people who are poor and struggling rapidly escalating.

Financial markets of the nation, and even the world are in turmoil as our national and individual greed and excesses, along with widespread corrupt business practices have driven them to the breaking point. Many banks have already failed and people are losing their jobs and their homes with many more expected in the coming months. Almost in a panic, those who are as much a part of the problem as any, are trying to plug the hole in the dike and only time will tell what their efforts will produce.

Our sins, along with the tears and the blood those sins cause to be shed daily, are piled high to Heaven, and a Holy God has no choice but to withdraw from so wicked a people. Once a nation founded to honor God and His principles by living Godly lives, we have turned to other gods, and to our own minds to decide right and wrong. Our Constitution promises freedoms and liberty but those promises are to a Godly citizenry who willingly place restraints on their wants, desires, and passions. Without the moral foundation of God and His Word such a Constitution cannot stand but will continue to be shredded paragraph by paragraph as we see being done today.

Many will say they don’t engage in any of these things but do they know that when they fail to stand for Godly things, to stand against sin and wrong they are as guilty as those who are engaging? What are we watching on television and inviting into our homes? By watching ungodly programs we lend credibility and encouragement when the ratings are reviewed. Do we speak up or say nothing when perversion and blasphemy is paraded down the streets? What about when yet another state elects to have a lottery or a casino, do we write letters, vote no or just ignore the whole thing? How did we react when the Supreme Court trampled on the Constitution and declared same sex marriage to be legal across the country? In what arena are we standing against evil and wickedness or are we so desensitized to sin we hardly notice? Jesus said if you are not for me you are against me1 and the same applies to the evil in this world. If one is not against it, then they are for it.

We could have had a sudden economic catastrophe,2 a massive military strike, an earthquake of frightening proportions, volcano eruption, or a deadly weather incident, but instead we have been given a warning, a glimpse of what the future may hold. Unless we as individuals and as a nation, turn from our wickedness, our indifference, our lukewarm doctrines and turn toward God, renounce our sins, and return to serving and honoring the God of the Bible, we can be sure catastrophe is just around the corner. Even then, some will still deny Him and continue on their road of rebellion. Out of the shambles of broken lives and a broken country, God will reap many lost souls as they pour out their heart in shame and repentance before Him. Then God can once more bless, protect, and prosper a repentant America.

Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. ~ Proverbs 14:34
