Forty-Seven Godly Men

Translated the King James Bible

Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. ~ Luke 21:33

I love the King James Bible because it is the preserved words of God. It was translated by forty-seven1 men who were learned in the Hebrew and the Greek Languages and they never failed to reverence and respect God and His Word. More importantly, History records that those men were devout Christians who honored God the Father, while serving and obeying the Lord Jesus Christ. Recorded history shows that their lives were disciplined as the heeded the Holy Spirits' direction. These were men who not only believed the Word of God was true, holy, and authoritative, they also were very careful in how they handled God's Word in speech as well as in writing.

Still others were outright forgeries, fake manuscripts and not the Word of God. Many of those rejected fake and altered manuscripts have found a home in the new Bibleversions so popular today.

Those men were chosen to examine the then current Protestant Bibles and the manuscripts, many of which they came to reject as being polluted. Their work required they determine what was, and what was not, God's Word. A tremendous task to be sure, and one not entered into lightly by any of these men as they sought the Lords wisdom and guidance in their labors. The result being that they spent seven years going over all the available translations and manuscripts.

The Translators knew that many manuscripts were corrupted showing erasures and changes having come out of Egypt, (Alexandria) and, or, the Roman Catholic Church. They also refused those manuscripts which had not had wide circulation in the local churches which left their origins suspect. Still others were outright forgeries, fake manuscripts and not the Word of God. Many of those rejected fake and altered manuscripts have found a home in the new Bibleversions so popular today.

When the new versions of today use COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MANUSCRIPTS than what the King James Bible is based upon, I don't think they can in anyway truthfully claim to be building on the King James Bible foundation or tradition as they like to say they are doing.

After careful study the translators noted that all of the Protestant Bibles of their day were good, some however needed polishing or minor corrections. Additionally in their Letter to the Reader they stated that they were building on the foundation laid by those men who had gone before them. So we know the King James Bible translators did not trample on or ignore the good work done before them as some claim today.

When the new versions of today use COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MANUSCRIPTS than what the King James Bible is based upon, I don't think they can in anyway truthfully claim to be building on the King James Bible foundation or tradition as they like to say they are doing. Such a claim is designed to deceive and give a false sense of security to those considering purchasing their new version. In reality there is no truth in their claims. Theirs is a whole new work and I think the COPYRIGHT they have on their Bibles will bear out this fact.

The Manuscripts that were used by the King James Bible Translators have been lost to History. I doubt this was an accident, but possibly God's way of saying It is finished! as pertains to His written Word. Millions of copies of the King James Bible have been sent out around the world, and with the original Manuscripts now gone the King James Bible can NEVER be re-written or revised. It cannot be second guessed, at least not by intelligent thinking people because what is there to compare it to? Only inferior, rejected and corrupt manuscripts mostly controlled by the Roman Church these many centuries.

You might ask why is it then that so many educated persons today are arguing that the King James Bible is not the best translation or the most accurate? That is a good question, Why? indeed do they argue? I can only answer, that perhaps they fear a final authority higher than themselves which the King James Bible certainly is that.

I am thankful God preserved His Word and gave me a perfect copy! This is just one more reason that I love the King James Bible and count it the only true written Word of God.

Folks, this is only a very short summary into the history of the King James Bible, the translators, manuscripts, and new versions of today. For those who seek more information, it is available on our King James Bible page, also other sites on line, and in your local library. I encourage every seeker to push past that false information so easily available and delve deeper and you will discover that the Roman Catholic Church and Satan are trying to convince us all that they gave us the Bible. Nothing could be more false. God speed in your studies. tiny cross
