Mark 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. KJV Jesus looked at him and loved him. "One thing you lack," he said. "Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." NIV Living a Christian life is not mandatory in order to follow Christ, so no Cross to bear according to the NIV.

Luke 1:1 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us. KJV Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us. NIV The NIV makes no mention as to the things that were BELIEVED. There is a big difference in things being fulfilled and things being believed.
Luke 1:15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. KJV for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth. NIV The NIV presents as though the wine etc. has to be locked up to keep him from it. Also in the NIV John did not get the Holy Ghost until later - at birth. KJV says he received the Holy Ghost BEFORE birth!
Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. KJV "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed. NIV Good news is no substitute for hearing the Gospel. No healing for the broken-hearted in the NIV

And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. KJV He said to them, "When you pray, say: "'Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, 3 Give us each day our daily bread. 4 Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation." NIV Who, or what ,would the NIV have you pray to? Where is the one they call "Father?" Whose will be done? The KJV makes it clear that we are to pray to God in heaven and ask His will be done.
