Rejecting Knowledge

Claiming to be Christians many reject Biblical teaching

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. ~ Hosea 4:6

In this present world the knowledge produced by men is highly praised whether it be from the academies of science, the arts, medicine, or other, if it pleases the carnal nature of man it is esteemed. Even that so-called wisdom coming from religions of the world are given favor over the true wisdom that comes only from God and His Word.

All those who are truly born again are the priests of God (Revelation 1:6) and He does not appoint unrepentant sinners to that post. Our verse shows us that when one rejects the knowledge and wisdom given by God, basically found in the Bible, they have rejected all hope of being saved and cannot be a Christian. God has rejected such persons.

Those who have made such a rejection, yet claim they are a Christian are simply deceived and are still lost in their sins. Theirs is an attempt to climb up to Heaven in some other way than by full faith and trust in the Lord.

What is the problem today that Christians do not have basic understanding? Is it the new version Bibles that are so popular? The heretical notes and studies so many turn to instead of the Holy Spirit? Or perhaps it is because people are trying to do two and three things at one time and therefore do none of them well?

Most likely it is because people do not study and read the Bible as they should. They read a verse or two each day, if that, and feel they have done their duty. Even then their mind is elsewhere, preoccupied because they have not given God and His Word proper place and authority in their life. The Bible knowledge of the average Christian is deplorable and will end in destruction if we are to believe what the Bible teaches and there is a remnant of us who do believe every word. tiny cross
